Samuel L. Jackson is best known for bringing you such immortal lines as "It's my duty to please that booty" (from 2000's Shaft) and "There are snakes on this m***********g plane!" (do you really need to guess?). Jackson is continuing his reign as the baddest mofo on the planet by starring in, and co-producing, the anime Afro Samurai, based on the manga by Takashi Okazaki. The anime, which will air on Spike TV this fall, also features a score by The RZA from The Wu-Tang Clan.

Afro Samurai is set in a "futuristic, yet feudal Japan" and it follows the adventures of Afro, a spliff-smoking black samurai, as he seeks to avenge the murder of his father.

There's not much on the website, just a few downloads and a trailer, featuring plenty of the old ultra-violence. You will have to establish that you're over 18 before entering the website, since there is some adult content on there.

Afro Samurai looks pretty good so far (some nice animation in the trailer), but I wonder how far they can stretch the hoary "vengeance quest" plotline. There's only so many twists and turns a story can take before the fans start screaming, "Just show us the d**n fight already!"
